We are Country & Shore ... a homeware and lifestyle store located in the heart of Emsworth,

on the Hampshire & West Sussex border. We had our grand opening in Spring 2021 and despite the trading chaos caused by Coronavirus and government lockdowns, we have quickly built a lovely client-base of locals and holiday-makers alike, who have all made us very welcome.

Opening a retail store has always been a dream of mine as I am passionate about design ideas and really enjoy collating collections for home décor. The name ‘Country & Shore’ came about as I believe Hampshire and West Sussex have the very best of both. The collection I source has connections with the sea and the land and I hope you enjoy finding something beautiful for your home or as a gift.

My vision is to try to source and sell as many natural, organic or ethical products as I can, although at times it can be hard to get past companies ‘green washing’ with fake eco-credentials!

My dog Lucky and I are relatively recent arrivals in Emsworth and have loved settling into our new home, new business and new coastal life. Before arriving here we had moved around a bit. I left Edinburgh, Scotland for Mallorca some years ago and I was looking forward to blue skies and sunshine. However on arriving in the beautiful town of Port Andratx it snowed – the first time in fifty years!

 

After many happy years living on the island and co-founding a Sixth Form College, sadly I lost my husband to prostate cancer. The shared dream of being on the Island quickly lost its appeal and I returned to the UK. Bouncing through London during COVID, I decided I had to find ‘my new tribe’ I settled on beautiful Emsworth.  I was fortunate enough to know the area as my bestie (whom I met at Finishing School many moons ago!) has lived here for over thirty years.

 

The friendly welcome and kind comments has touched me so much and I am thrilled to building a business and new life in such a vibrant, fun and friendly community.
